Controllers

Our professional grade systems will control lights, audio, video, DMX-512 and even X10 devices. We also offer digital input and output interfaces to control virtually any device that has a wire, including Halloween props. You could even synchronize your home fireworks show to music! For those on a tight budget, we can still bring life to your displays for a minimal investment.

Spooktacular Ideas - Designing Your First Halloween Show

Designing your first Halloween show can be quite intimidating. Lights Alive is here to save you from the need for time consuming experimentation and costly mistakes.

At the heart of a truly spectacular show is our Light-O-Rama light controller package, consisting of a sixteen-channel light controller, an MP3 sound controller and a Showtime Director controller to run the show without the need of a computer. Of course you can also run your show from your PC if you prefer. You can program your own custom shows with the help of Showtime software and your PC. However, we highly recommend purchasing several preprogrammed songs/shows before attempting to program your own.

Once you have the basic electronics, you need to select the appropriate props and lights to complete the show. First you need enough lights to cover four (4) bushes, trees or other large objects in your yard. We highly recommend orange G15 LED lights for this purpose. You will need a couple outdoor floodlights, which you can find at any hardware or home improvement store. Anything from 75 to 150 watt will do fine, but make sure that they’re rated for outdoor use.

Next, you need three (3) strobe lights…  the bigger and brighter, the better. We would recommend one Lights Alive 750 watt Macho Strobe and two 70-watt Dyno Flashes. Satisfactory results can be obtained using the Dyno Flash for all three strobes or even one Dyno Flash and a couple of our 25-watt Mini Strobes. Keep in mind that these strobes are NOT waterproof and will require suitable protection from the elements.

One large ghost (wearing white) is required. Select products of your liking from our props pages.

To a ghost you will need a black light (UV lamp). This could be an incandescent type black light bulb from your local hardware store. Even better would be a solid state (LED) black light fixture. Although fluorescent type black lights are generally best, they should be avoided for this rare case.

You will need to create a graveyard scene using your favorite props. We offer a variety of quality headstones to complete the effect. Unlike headstones found at discount stores, ours include spikes to easily install them. Add our Cemetery Sign and an old fence around the scene and you’re in business. If you want to take it to the next level, add a few strings of our unique purple LED lights around the fence.

Of course a graveyard isn’t a graveyard without fog. We offer a variety of fog machines, but this is one area where you can save a few dollars. High capacity fog machines simply aren’t needed for this effect. However, we highly recommend the use of our fog machine timers to eliminate the need to push a button every few seconds.

Lastly, you must address audio needs. An audio power amplifier and speakers are needed. Our model A-500 is a cost-effective solution, but any moderately powered amplifier will suffice. Our “Rock” speakers are highly recommended due to their high power handling capacity, their weather resistance and their ability to blend in with the landscape. Our FM transmitter allows you to broadcast your audio to neighbor’s homes as well as passing motorists via their conventional FM radios. A variety of other special effect devices, mixer panels, wireless microphones and more will further enhance your system.
